Paper Prototyping

This was my second group project in University. Most people at this point chose to make a digital board game however we wanted to improve our prototyping skills so we made a physical game.
In Courtroom Courtesy players enact a courtoom set in hell, in which souls are trialled for their good and bad deeds made in life. One player as the defense must argue for the soul to be reincarnated against another player acting as the prosecution and arguing for the soul to remain in hell for eternity!
What I learnt form this project:
The most difficult part of this project was trying to balance between giving players enough creative freedom vs giving the players prompts / structure to insight creative arguments. We decided to introduce 'evidence' cards to introduce information for the players to riff off of. We also introduced more power to the judge role allowing them to decide wether an interpretation of the evidence cards was legal or not. This also gave the players an opportunity to try and persuade the judge for why it should or shouldn't be allowed.
